So much easier just to keep burning petrol. I’m constantly amazed that wiping a finger round the inside of the X1’s tailpipe collects … nothing.

The chap who sat in his EV with it running in a closed garage trying to suicide failed…. … will the fossil burners succeed?

No he just electrocuted himself instead. With between 400 to 800 volts of power.

It gave him quite a buzz….

I’ll be serious here though, many are having problems with sub-standard EV charger installations, such as the older Chargemaster boxes & the doming capacitors because the capitors they used are wrong for the voltages (using 6.9V capacitors in a 12V circuit, the 6.9V type are for the 5V part of computer circuit boards, not the 12V side), but there are also horrific images of “chocolate block” meltdowns (that’s those con blocks that are used to join cables, the cables require correct termination & they need to be torqued down properly, but that’s not been happening so they melt & cause a fire).

It appears that many of the installers, whether the amateurs or the so called professionals are taking short cuts & it’s leading to fires in peoples homes & garages, this is about education though, as if these installers knew how to do things properly these incidents wouldn’t be happening. And then there’s the “granny chargers” which you can plug into a simple 13A socket, but, those 13A sockets were not designed for 13A continuous, you may just about get away with 8A. Use a socket & plug that is designed for these things, either the type 1 & 2 wall boxes, or the 16A or ideally 32A commando socket.

    Be careful
