Had a great spirited 3 hr drive today in my honda civic with the so callde dreaded cvt. It has ACC and the button to change the distance works. Also you can deactivate the ACC and just use normal CC if you wish. The ACC is better for me as it brakes so i don’t have to and i abuse that function alot. Activating it so the car brakes.
The issue with the 1.8 Petrol Hybrid (122hp) is lack of actual power imo. 0–62 / 11.00s and it has only 142 nm. The icon trim is so basic, it was one car i looked at back in jan in excel trim but a corolla / not a ch-r but decided it was just to small a car for us and after driving the honda I knew it was the one… So never drove the toyota.
The 1.5l honda i have is pushing 182 bhp / 220 nm and has one engine. I would of maybe looked at the 2.0l as that’s 184 Hp and there lies the issue imo, the 1.8l hybrid is underpowered and limited for eco reasons to meet eu regs. Good for around town but for anything else then it will struggle. So it’s not just the cvt thats the issue, as some are suggesting imo it’s the actual drive package the car offer’s. The 2.ol on the otherhand has alot more power and 190Nm and i would only consider that version, as i do alot of fast road driving.
Still not as good as the 220Nm in my 1.5l honda sport though and The cvt holds up rather well in the honda. Had no issues at all, at any speed, overtaking anything i wanted to on todays drive. S
One focus got truely roasted once the trucks / then cars ahead moved over and it was clear. You know the ones, who drive real close up ya rear. Well i showed him. Not once, not twice but 3 times and some guy in a A4 2.ol tdi who tried to race up the inside, got the door firmly shut now if the cvt was such an issue would that be possible. It’s nice to have abit of power again when needed over fuel ecomony.
