just a quick thought you could keep the car and put a named driver on it you can do this for 30 days at a time I am named driver on my so is my partner but you can add one more temporary driver for 30 days and there is no extra charge you just ring up and give the driver details it takes 5 mins so if you have a friend who is happy to take you in your car your fuel its only their time they are giving up you don’t need to be in the car either as long as is for your benefit ie could drop you off and come back and pick you up later
