Yep colin that is the problem with all this assited stuff, under certain parameters they work as they are intended to and under others they just did’nt forsee, as they did not create the code or the what if for that event, it’s why processes and systems crash. The more and more tech the more glitches will occur.
Personally the brakes locking on like that happens to me when a car has ebm and your cruising on the motorway maybe even using acc or cruise and you just move your foot across as quickly as one can.
like you i have leg issues and i do use acc alot. It don’t happen then when it brakes, but if the warning will come on and I need to brake, say if a car cuts in from another lane on my old golf and the radar don’t pick it up. So you shift your braking foot from where ever it’s resting for however long and yeah it’s often clumsy and the car propper joilts and you hold on for dear life and everyone in the car looks at you as if to say what are you doing, Only they know i’m a pro driver and it ain’t me it’s maybe a problem with the car but it thinks thats what you want. It not how much you pressed the peddle it’s the force you pressed the peddle with ever so slighty that confuses the system.
I just got my newest car and it has cutin dectecion so while the acc is on and it follows a car in front of you it suddenly starts leaving a gap if it detects a car in another line is aproaching a car in it’s lane and it’s going at a faster speed and it will / maybe cut in so leaves a bigger gap also when a car is indicating i think it does it.. But sometimes they don’t moveout especailly if it’s a truck.. So it’s slowed down a little for no reason and then speeds up again. Very different to the golf 7 i did have..
All i can say is alway steering in a straight line and not turning while braking at first will avoid alot of major problems when braking unless it’s really wet and you too close but in bad condition you should be driving to the conditions and not using drivers aids.
