Thunderstorm here? Nope. Nilch. Nothin’. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Just Sun and more Sun. I suspect the South Downs are just high enough to stop South coast weather from getting up here. As I’ve said before, I can sit by the window watching lightning alternate between the South Downs and the Surrey Hills. Petersfield and Guildford both seem to be rain magnets, too. Still, we had a Red Admiral butterfly come in through the patio doors yesterday. I haven’t seen one around her for a while now – there used to be loads of them every Summer.
Today is better, though. All the doors and windows were open first thing to let the last of yesterday’s heat out. Quite nice now – Sunny with occasional cloud. Just put the second load of laundry on to wash and now I’m sitting with a cuppa (Yorkshire Tea), watching a Cabbage White riding the thermals up past the patio doors while one neighbour’s jet-washing their camper van out the front (a Saturday morning ritual) while another is trimming a hedge at the back.
