I think motability operations normally give circa £40,000,000 per year to the charity and the charity appears to be doing fine with that amount. If the charity spent the £500,000,000 on the disabled I am fine with that. The question is why did this large amount of money suddenly appear, it was because the government was looking into the company and reports they had £billions in reserve. They needed to get rid of excess money quickly so would complain if they gave it to charity.
There is no doubt motability are a god send to many but what I am annoyed at is it could be so much better, and by that I mean cheaper.
All motability have to do is keep the 600,000,000+ customers content, not necessarily happy, just content enough they come back every 3 years and sign up again.
I would like to see competition introduced where five of the biggest fleet companies get to bid for the contract every so often, maybe 5 or 7 years. Similarly the insurance companies would need to tender.
Competition is the only way to ensure value for money IMHO.
