Good thing you don’t live near me, Joss – There was either a heath fire somewhere near by this morning (didn’t hear any fire engines, couldn’t find anything on the local news), or someone was burning a lot of wood. Smokey haze everywhere. Not great with all the doors and windows open.

Goldfinch chick flew into the sitting-room this morning, perched on the curtain rail, then crapped on the piano and flew out again. Bad boy! The sparrows will have to teach him some manners.
Very lost seagull circled over the house earlier this afternoon, yelling its head off. Never seen one around here before. Saw plenty around Oxford when I was a child, but there aren’t any Land Fill sites around here.
