I think he is reffering to the 5 or so charging apps that is required to operate some of the charging points. Boris has told the power companies they should all be contactless payment on every charger and a phone app is not allowed.
Honestly – the EV MG Zs(?) is quite appealing just based on price and specs. It will be a change to your usual routine, but it may just be worth it. Running costs should be very attractive.
