Both Clive and I are very keen to see the BMW pricing as we are due on 17th August to order.

As WMC are aware we have a Ford Focus ST Line at the moment, and  Clive finds the lack of lumbar support a real chore. This coupled with endless issues with the car and extremely poor fuel economy (average of 34.6 over 8,000 miles) has made us look elsewhere.

We looked at the VW Golf, much more comfortable than the Ford but did not like the layout of the digital screens.

Then on to Mercedes Benz of Newcastle, test drove the new a class both 5 door and saloon at length and found the saloon is much more refined, far quieter with much less wind noise due to the shape and my Clive found that the blind spot in the rear is nowhere near as bas as the 5 door hatch. At £1499 for the a200 amg saloon we were pleased and content as it is a far smarter option than the Golf and Focus equivalents. We then went to Newcastle Audi to look at the new a3 (bloody awful inside, all touch sensitive and too high tech..motab guy said prices will be telephone figures also!

Now the real dilemma when we called into LLOYD BMW, Newcastle. The 2 series gran coupe is absolutely gorgeous, especially in Snapper Rocks Blue. Spoke to the salesman (no motab available) who said that even the standard sport is well equipped. We had a BRIEF drive in a 218i sport which frankly puts the ford to shame, and is a far superior car both to sit in, and drive than the A Class. Engine again seemed as perky as the a200 petrol, and the average mpg was showing 44.6! Seems a win win…the standard equipment even on the Sport level is far more generous than the AMG line mercedes, so I can only hope the £999 stays firm, or a slight price increase.

Come on BMW..enough of the waiting game!! Jo & Clive
