On the 1.6 110 bhp Diesel engine would I have to give it a motorway run once a week for the DPF ?
can only spk from my experience. Normally every other friday (although sometimes it’s longer) i go to pickup my other daughter from school 60 miles there and 60 back. I’ve had to do one regen in 3 years that was at the beginning of lockdown as her nana she lives with is high risk so we’ve not been seeing her, so no long journeys to make regular right now, in those weeks before and between seeing her last and would of made that journey.
I only did school runs and trip to local shops all 5 mins or less away and the engine never really gets warm, as i was not feeling great myself.. most times I dropped the missus then drove home then picked her up again (she don’t drive)
Thats the real issue imo the engine not getting warm… letting it run when sitting waiting as need a/c on or the heated seat, It’s not come up since, although last week i did drive to london to drop off some garden / diy supplies to my mum. I remember when i used to live in london and often i’d take my car (petrol) for a cleanout on the m1 till it stopped smoking at high speed..
Back to petrol for me on monday 1st one in 9 years since i had a fiat stilo 1.2 dohc.
