I drove a Formula 2 car round Oulton Park (in the 1970’s) with a view to racing it in a partnership with the owner, but he wrote it off a couple of weeks later in the Oulton Gold Cup race (for any petrol heads out there, lol). That accident probably saved me a fortune in retrospect!
PS: The same guy managed to shoehorn that F2 engine into a Lotus Elan (the chassis flexed on tick over!) and gave me a lift from Chelsea to his home in Portsmouth. I drove half the way quickly but reasonably, then he took over and it was the single most hair raising ride of my life!
112 mph is quick enough for anybody.
