Vag have been one manufacturer guilty for years of fitting options to all cars just not switching them all on.
I remember I on all Audi b5 A4’s they all had the heating element in the seats but they only fitted the switches to control them on cars with that option.
so owners were going to breakers or Ebay and buying a centre consul with the switches connected the loom to it and it all worked fine.
New vw’s can turn on options via an obd2 tool that would cost a packet from a dealer.
I also remember that in some fords they would leave a 50p bulb out of the footwell as it was supposed to only be on the ghia model, put a bulb in the holder and job done?
