I agree Colin. Trade does not consider a three year old car to be literally ’as new’. Of course there is no actual measure and ‘fair wear & tear’ is subjective but the odd scratch, etc is to be expected.
I do agree with 72Dudes though in that, if a car is returned bashed up and like a dustbin, then come on, this car has not been looked after. The GCB is exactly what it says, not a refund regardless of the state of the car.
I also care for my cars. I spend a lot of products and they are detailed regularly. I am even often complemented on then by dealers! Perhaps I’m the other end of the scale but at least the car should be returned clean and without all panels bashed, wheels kerbed and windows cracked. imo.
