I made my way to my Mitsubishi dealer with proverbial tape measure in hand when I was looking for my last car and unfortunately the PHEW version of the Outlander will not accommodate a AutoChair 80 KG hoist along with load space for an assembled pavement scooter, seat on or off.

The petrol and diesel versions would have been fine for my combination but the PHEW version has electric motors under the boot floor that restricts the space in the boot and also unlike the petrol and diesel versions that are 7 seat cars with the middle row being tilt and slide seats (very important for that extra inch or so) the PHEW is a 5 seat car and the middle come back row seats are fixed.

It puts it on par from my point of view as having the boot space of your average SUV of which there are many that are just not quite big enough and always short by and inch or two, with all seats in use and not laid down.

Don’t know about wheelchairs though so needs to be checked out for your combination.

In my case the petrol and diesel version were ruled out by too high an AP and there lousy MPG figures.
