IMO
To be clear you are not loosing a car simply because you now go to university good headline though as it got my attention for a moment.
I see people have mentioned contacting your MP problem there they may well have been one of the many that previously voted for a benefit freeze and imo unnecessary austerity measures in the first place so good luck with that one.
After 6 yrs of using the scheme you must now be aware of the fact that you are now simply just loosing the benefit of being a particular named driver who is no longer allowed to drive a scheme vehicle simply because you now fail to meet the necessary safeguarding rules because you choose to change your situation.
This is something that should be of no surprise or even one of discussion as its something which you were made aware of 6yrs ago when first seeking to be a nominated driver and something which you had already agreed to and signed up for and had explained to you more than once
Put simply you now fail to immediately meet the few rules that have had to be put place in attempt to protect the likes of me and to help prevent possible further abuse.
The notion that a nominated driver wanting to use the car at their leisure is fanciful and IMO unworkable in the real world.
Using ignorance as an excuse of not realising something after 6yrs of misusing the scheme will hold little water imo
The offer of a having a fitted tracker should be snatched up as it looks a generous one under these circumstances
Hope I do not sound to harsh as I really am not like that
I wish you and your mother well but just realistically saying it as I see it
