I think whenever someone starts charging you for something ( and in this case it’s a lot of money ) which was always free then that’s a very bad sign
what’s next? Nominated drivers? Lowering the mileage allowance?
if someone wants to pay £2/3k for some amazing signature paint job then that’s on them, but as it’s been pointed out Metallic Paint has always been gratis
so the question is why are Volvo getting away with it?
I know the XC40 is a good motor but to to pay a high AP, then get stung for Metallic Paint on a car that doesn’t even have a reverse camera as standard ( which I’m guessing most of us would need ) is a step too far in my eyes
it doesn’t affect me directly ( just now ) as I’ve never considered ordering one but I’d hate it to be a sign of the times a way for all manufacturers to steal another 5 or 600 beans from us
