A point that always gets missed about the car we get through motability is the fact that we just rent them and at the end of 3 years after paying minimum 9.5k plus whatever ridiculous AP required we end up with nothing, if average Jo went and spent that kind of money on a car you can bet they would expect to have something of value left after 3 years, at no point do we get to own these 35k cars that we get accused of being given for free all the time.
