Too much is being made of needing big batteries and 400+ miles of range.

Your bladder, belly, boredom level & attention span will all need a break before travelling that distance…  a range of 250 miles at motorway speed (70mph not 90?) is enough as this allows a good range of 200 miles before a stop and with a little bit in reserve for diversions, charger failures etc.

What we need is a proper reliable charging infrastructure, like Tesla have, like petrol stations are, that are evenly spread out so you are never more than 10 miles maximum from a charger.

We used to travel 464 miles regularly from Glasgow to Brighton in my SAAB 95 estate, usually through the night, and on a couple of occasions I done it non stop. I would have been prepared for the non stop trips so was rested and fed before leaving, normally the traffic was light and speed would have been high enough to prevent boredom and maintain my attention while keeping the journey time as short as possible (& my licence intact).

There is still a place for vehicles required to travel great distances in one stop but for the majority of drivers it’s an unnecessary added expense on a vehicle (100kwh battery v 50kwh battety).
