i have always supported and esposed the need for trade unions and in the past they have been responsible for huge strides in employment law and been at their best in supporting and assisting employees against dickensian employers.

the problem has been as mike700 says that they have strayed into the political arena, the motor trade in the 70’s was a joke with them and the rail unions boasting of ending governments. my first experience was  in nottinghamshire during the miners strike the notts miners simply wanted scargill to hold a strike ballot but he and his cronies refused and then deployed the flying pickets to intimidate and attack their fellow miners.

had he held a ballot the notts miners would have voted for a strike, they simply wanted a vote. but the extremists refused and people died because of it. that put me off the unions and when i see mcclusky and co threatening and intimidating anyone that disagrees with them and their ilk in momentum infiltrating the labour party i cant see me voting labour anytime soon and many around here agree.

over the last couple of elections mansfield, ashfield and other constituencies that have been labour throughout my lifetime have turned tory.

unless the far left are expelled they wont turn red again in a hurry.

if boris and his advisors have any sense they will make sure they soften the usual tory austerity etc and they will be in power for some time.
