So with the new Quarter coming on Tuesday next week
What car are you “HOPING” will appear and a rough deposit you’d be happy to lay down for it?
I personally am hoping for the Omoda 9 SHS ( currently have a BYD Seal U DM-i on order ) and I’d be happy with a similar deposit of £6k.
I'm blunt and straight to the point and I make no apologies for it!

BMW X5 30d M Sport, for which I’d pay £15-£20K AP but, as that’s not going to happen a BMW X1 23i M Sport at around £5k – but that’s not going to happen either 😔
Sadly, the thought of yet another batch of EVs being added doesn’t excite me one bit!

Nice choices, if love to see the 4 Series 420i on too 😂

I have compared a leasing deal recently between Skoda Enyaq 85x SportLine Maxx and Polestar 4 Dual Pilot… less than £80 difference for 4 years! So will be happy to pay £4,000 AP 🙂
Tesla Model Y Long range. Cheaper that the above Skoda, so £1,500 AP.
VW ID.7 GTX – £4,000 AP.
Appreciate all the above are EV, but they all accelerate nicely and fun to drive.
In real life I would go for Subaru WRX STI, but I will need two legs for it.

Although your choice of BMW is more realistic than mine (😂), sadly the fact that none of our picks are EVs or PHEVs means that we are doomed to disappointment!
June 28, 2025 at 12:42 pm #307312Would love the Renault 5 to be on the list and the scenic, megane and 4 to appear by the next quarter when I can order my next car.
June 28, 2025 at 12:47 pm #307313The Santa Fe but in the spec above for 2k less loool

Pretty sure the Renault 5 will appear on the scheme soon. Might be a little longer yet as Renault can’t build enough of them as demand across Europe is high for the little R5. I don’t think the AP will be too bad when the car appears on Motability. I don’t want an electric car yet as I cannot charge at home. But if I was in the market for one, the R5 would be top of my list as it’s the best looking small EV out there… especially in that bright yellow!
June 28, 2025 at 4:08 pm #307323Personally would just like to see the AP come down on large petrol/hybrid SUVs already on the scheme. The likes of the Skoda Kodiak or Hyundai Santa Fe would be ideal for our needs but far outside our budget.
June 28, 2025 at 6:29 pm #307342Renault 4 for me, especially by Q4.

Agree. Although Motability are under pressure to push EVs and PHEVs, looking at what’s happening in the used car market, they could improve their financial position considerably if they offered large petrol and diesel SUV,s which are worth double (or more) the money at 3 years than EVs, as the second hand market, which is non-existent for EVs, is far better for ICE cars.
June 29, 2025 at 10:07 am #307372Some road testers have said the new BYD Surf is cheaper and better than the new Renault 5 it does look good it is called the Seagull in china but called surf in uk and europe.

Exactly. With the lack of reliable charging infrastructure, slow charging, charge costs, low range issues, and all the other issues surrounding EVs at present that they would realise ICE is a lot of people’s preference at the moment. Maybe that’s why they price them so highly I dunno. Would just be nice to have more affordable non EV options for tall members/members with tall passengers

Ironically the Surf isn’t big enough for a board.
There’s a long list of cars I’d like to see but can’t actually see appearing despite their value either at retail or lease being very comparable to current cars.
I’m most disappointed by those manufacturers giving us just one spec level. If you’re going to make a car available then at least give us a shot at getting the spec many find essential.
Specifically I’d like to see the Tavascan V2 reduce in AP, twice the AP if the V1 is a bit much.
BYD could do with extending its offerings upward, there’s 2 models they could add.
KIA should add the EV 3&6 and even the EV5.

June 30, 2025 at 2:02 pm #307437BMW X1 and X2 20i is £3999
BMW i4 e35 is £5999
No other bmws left on scheme.
June 30, 2025 at 5:02 pm #307443It’s a shame, no bmw grand coupe, been waiting for that, I do feel that brands are pulling back, with all the negative politics over motobility, by not putting popular retail cars on. Just base levels.

Even the ICEs have gone up by £200-£300 from the looks of it. Keeping everything crossed they add some new cars at bargain prices

isn’t it a good thing? Less people will be hit by low quality vehicles, like Peugeot’s latest? So many negative articles about.

Maybe. All I know is that my family and I just want a car that we can all fit in with an AP that doesn’t break the bank. Seems like an impossible dream tbh

July 1, 2025 at 7:03 am #307484I don’t think we can expect expensive cars for the money thats paid( PIP…..£77.05pw). Overv the last 5 years or so, cars have increased in price more rapidly than the benefits given.
Even with higher AP’s, they are still extremely cheaper than a comparative private lease. Motability should be , imo, be providing transport needs , not personal lifestyle choices.
We can always opt for a used car and use the benefit towards it.
