    You have options, but its certainly worth while to use an EV tariff.

    There are two types:

    Something like Octopus, who offer a set-time of off-peak low price energy which you can use to charge your car, run your washing machine etc. Usually from Midnight to 6am (or thereabouts)

    Or you can use OVO Charge Anytime, where you have a standard energy tariff, but you can charge your car anytime through the day or night at 7p per kWh. (that’s a broad explantation)

    We use OVO as it’s not practical for us to use washing machines etc during the night. It’s easy to use, the App is clear and simple.

    You WILL need a smart meter.

    I’d say the first thing to do would be to check with your current energy supplier to see what EV tariffs they have and see if it suits you.
