Currently away on a break and had to have a tyre replaced by Kwik-fit. They have replaced a Continental PremiumContact 6 with a Continental EcoContact 6 which has a slightly different tread pattern. Is this ok as I have always thought you needed same tyre as a pair?
Providing it is the same size, speed rating, ‘summer or winter’ and construction type (normally radial) it is fine. Even differing manufacturers tyres providing they are the same size/spec are fine and legal.
Often tyre manufacturers update their tyres so older ones are no longer available. Hence newer versions, often with a different pattern are fitted.
