I can’t do tech

Yesterday i inadvertently deleted the FordPass app from my phone (i haven’t got the foggiest idea how i managed to delete it) and i have zero idea how to set it up again because it requires me to input my Ford owner account credentials – which i have no idea about.

Truth be told i don’t even know what the FordPass actually does so perhaps i’m better off without it.

When i accidently deleted the FordPass app i was trying to access something called ‘android auto’ so that i could hopefully play music stored on my phone but again i don’t know if my Kuga even has android auto.

Radio in my Kuga is another problem area for me because as hard as i try i am unable to work out how to store stations meaning all the stations are the one’s that came preloaded. There’s heavy metal, country, news, garage, mellow, hip hop, grunge (i don’t even know what that is) pop, more news, classical + jazz. (i’m alternating between news and jazz)

Reading the tiny manual that came with my Kuga hasn’t helped – its basically all gobbledygook to me.

I also went to put petrol in my Kuga yesterday but i chose the wrong pump meaning the hose didn’t reach. There was a big van at the pump in front of me and another car at the pump behind me leaving me not enough space to pull out so all i could do was sit there (without petrol) until the van driver in front of me eventually finished yapping with the staff in the shop, returned to his van and  drove off.

Oh for those bygone days when there would be a little fella that would fill up your tank.

            Lol @mitch

It gets worse . . . yesterday i started to read a topic about a ‘fire stick’ thinking it was something to do with starting camp fires. Nope turns out its about some other tech gadgetry.

WOW thanks for the links @MickC!

Btw, i also tried to turn the clock in my Kuga back the other week but after 40 mins i admitted defeat and quit. It didn’t help finding a sub menu that clearly had a tick in the box next to ‘auto change time to GMT’ (or words to that effect) Well, i can confirm tick or no tick my Kuga doesn’t auto change to GMT and my Kuga’s clock is still running on European time.

If you want to play music from your phone you’re better off just streaming it over bluetooth. Android Auto is very resource hungry for your phone, causes it to get hot and drains the battery.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

Thank you @WardyGTC I’ve already given up on FordPass & Android Auto so i’ll now try to read up on Bluetooth streaming ?

Guess depends on your phone my Samsung Note 9 never got very hot my current Xiaomi 12 pro doesn’t, mind you that only gets hot when supercharging at 120w lol.

The wife’s Pixel 4a doesn’t get hot either, They all get warm sure as they’re charging etc but I certainly wouldn’t call it hot. Yes for basic music streaming is definitely easier

Even those of us who develop tech, don’t do tech!

I used to unlock car get in, insert key and drive off. En route I’d adjust a few knobs for heat and radio.

Now I get in car – after finding the phone to unlock it- insert key, go through a procedure of turning off Auto-Stop, Lane Assist, and FCA ( which involves going through a menu). Agreeing to some sort of T&C, work out how to release the handbrake and then….finally drive off.  Then whilst I’m leaving finger-marks all over a shiny piece of black plastic to adjust the heat and radio, I’ve driven up the chuff of a bus, that I didn’t see because I was trying to turn of the A/C that I never put on in the first place.

It’s more like a pre-flight check to visit the local shop to buy a pint a milk. I’d walk, but my legs don’t work.

I wonder if Motability will introduce classic cars in the future !

I was fine with new technology, when the calculator came out in the mid 70’s, but it all went down hill after that. Thankfully one of my PA’s is Tech minded.
