The Kia Sportage. For an organisation for the disabled, to have only the manual version on the scheme is surely against what it is set up for, allowing disabled people access to vehicles that they themselves can drive. I myself now can only drive automatics, so that means I cannot have the Sportage. For me, if a vehicle is on the scheme in manual version then the automatic version should also be available.

It’s been a bear bug for me ever since I became disabled and DVLA took my license to drive manuals away because of my disabilities so no fault of my own other than having that terrible stigma put upon me of becoming disabled for working eleven hour days, six day a week to pay my taxes for my 40 years of working.

I think personally it’s a shocking indictment to Motability that they give no help with the extra cost of automatic cars or even, in this case, supplying auto’s. The only upside for future sufferers is the introductions of EV’s being auto’s anyway and for myself my financial situation has improved a tiny bit the past couple of years to make the extra wonga for automatic a bit more palatable.
