I have a 2022 Sportage on the Motability scheme and the GPF warning light has been on 3 times in 6 months. I tried numerous times to regenerate it the first time it happened but with no success. Eventually after many complaints my local Kia dealership sent out a technician to take me out on a drive and demonstrate the correct procedure for regeneration. We drove up and down the motorway for miles and even he couldn’t get the lights off. It then went into the garage and they did a forced regeneration. On my way home from collecting it the warning lights came on again. I was then assigned a complaint’s manager from Motability and they liaised with Kia and it went into the garage again. Another regeneration was carried out and Motability covered the fuel costs. This was 7 weeks ago and the warning lights came back on 3 days ago. I took the car out at night when it was quiet and went from Leicester to Birmingham following the instructions in the manual to the letter. The lights all remained on. I spun around at Spaghetti junction and came back using the deceleration method I have seen on the Kia owners forum. The lights went off just as I was coming off the M69. It took an hour and a half’s driving, plenty of fuel and speeds in excess of 70mph to sort out this issue temporarily. I expect the lights to come on again in the next few weeks. To say I am p***** off is an understatement. I would never have ordered this particular vehicle if I had been aware of the effort and expense needed to keep it running correctly. I’m not sure whether to persist with it, or to get rid. Beware if you are a disabled driver ( or any driver in fact ) and you are thinking of getting a Kia Sportage.
