Mine December too
March 1, 2023 at 4:14 pm #213505We’re very impressed with ours. But Volvo prices seem to have gone up more than most in the past 18 months.

ajnYes APs very high now Wigwam, quite worrying tbh for a lease..
what do you have in mind Mike if you change, still early I guess, or maybe extend..

RogerWilkoLooked at the xc40 last time, I’m too up for change this December, but found the seats not very Volvo, nowhere near as comfy as my xc60, plus the xc40 has a small boot. I’m not sure if they will come back on for a while.
March 1, 2023 at 9:09 pm #213543
ajnI find the seats ok Roger, however the boot is tiny as you say, seems way to small to be classed for disability use imo..
I don’t require wheelchair use, but if I did, can’t see it being an adequate size without removing the shelf, lowering the seats..

BrydoA standard foldable wheelchair fits in it, with not too much room to spare.
I too had the xc60 and it was better than the xc40 but it will never be on the scheme again.

ajnThanks for the info Brydo, it’s the not to much room to spare with these cars that should be taken into consideration too..
Im aware that some people don’t/wouldn’t want a larger vehicle to be driving around with, however some might..
Just like shoes I guess not everyone is a size 8..
I wonder how many people here are gratefully using the scheme, totally happy with the arrangement, until it comes to the not much room to spare bit..

BrydoWith regard to the seats our xc60, really comfortable, our first xc40 not at all and our current xc40 really comfortable.
Go figure ?

ajnYes very strange..
lots complained about Xc40 seats on other forums too..
apart from that they’re small vehicles..
So are Volvo still on the scheme
March 2, 2023 at 12:30 pm #213629So are Volvo still on the scheme
No. As Wigwam points out the increasing retail costs will make it very difficult for them to return to the Scheme. Volvo is planning to go ‘all electric’ by 2030. As we know electric cars remain very expensive.

ajnOk Thanks wmc and other replies, this strengthens my extend lease further at the moment..
March 9, 2023 at 5:55 pm #214558I meant to chip in on this discussion when it was live but got sidetracked.
Perhaps I can shed some light on the issue of seat comfort.
With regards to the XC40 seats and my two amazing years with one, one of my initial gripes was with the seat pad. It was like sitting on a wooden stool. Mine was a beautiful Inscription Pro.
I did some investigating and found out a couple of things.
1) The ‘Pro’ spec cars front seats come with knee extensions and there is a hard plate that sits under the seat middle pad that is part of the knee extension mechanism. If you place the palm of your hand on this pad and press down, it will ‘bottom’ out (excuse the pun) onto the solid plate pretty quick as the cushioning is extremely thin.
2) Anyone who tends to sit slightly forward on the seat (shorter person or for a medical reason) will engage the centre seat pad and come into contact with the solid plate.
Volvo, in making the seats as thin as possible in order to make the cabin roomier (seat pad and back rest), in my opinion, had a brain wobble on the design of the knee extension.Other than that, the car was absolutely incredible and to counter the seat pad issue, on which, I managed to sit more comfortably once I knew what I was dealing with, I thought the seat back was more than adequate.
I hope this helps.
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

RogerWilkoVolvo used to be great for me, I’ve had an XC70 and an XC60 on the scheme, great cars, very comfortable cars.
Now, if they come back, it will only be Im assuming, mtge c40 and xc40, two cars with too small a boot for my needs, and has been said, the 40 seats are just not as comfy as Volvos used to be.
sad really, great company with excellent dealerships.

ajnHello Bionic Rusty, I actually use the extending knee pad device, long legs, slender bum? I have seat back so always use the device..
March 10, 2023 at 1:09 pm #214697<p style=”text-align: left;”>@RogerWilko, It was an XC70 that I wanted to replace my 40 but I just couldn’t find a nice one, and, if I’m honest, the later examples are overpriced, today.
I settled on a beautiful, private sale, E Class Wagon which is fantastic and the ride is more comfortable than the 40. As I am deteriorating faster than believed, I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to cope with how low it is but I’m going to enjoy her for as long as I can.
I used to own an E Coupe and that was an absolute monster. I really miss that car. (I miss many cars) 🙂</p>
@ajn I’m so glad that you’re enjoying yours. Letting mine go was one of the hardest things I’ve done, car wise.
I’ve said this before, but Motability were fantastic to deal with on this point. I honestly cannot praise them, especially the lady I dealt with, enough.Drive safe, all, and keep enjoying your cars.
