I don’t disagree entirely with what Mike, above, says, but I do think the government have publicised this benefit, whilst doing everything they can to avoid paying it
Mrs 72 dudes received a letter saying she was eligible, but on ringing the claim line she was told that as only my name appears on the energy bills, not hers, she would be unable to make a claim. She was also met with obstructive, verging on rude customer service operatives. For the sake of £150, we left well alone, although I appreciate for many this payment would be crucial.
