Well as far as I’m concerned this is great news .
Unfortunately I have to rely solely in benefits for my income.
I held down a regular job as long as I could prior to my illness and disability getting the better of me meaning I had to throw in the towel upon medical advice.
When my lease is up I always look to extend as long as I can but obviously after 5 yrs is up I have no option other than to order a new vehicle.
I have no savings so have often had to resort to applying for a grant to cover the A.P if there’s been one .
I’ve always looked after my vehicle, I treat it as I would do if I had purchased it so have always got the full good condition back .
The good condition bonus is a lovely treat every 5 yrs and allows me to treat myself to a few household necessities etc ( New Freezer, T.V , Laptop etc ) in the past .
Without it I would not be able to buy these items .
If this money was used to reduce A.P then I would never be able to buy these things .
As I said I’m not a sponger and have worked all my life from the age of 16 up until I was forced to retire early through illness at 58 so have paid into the system and been a Motability customer for nearly 25 yrs so have paid into there system now for yrs too .
It strikes me that as far as some members of this forum are concerned Motability are damned if they do and damned if they don’t and there will never be a system in place that pleases everyone.
My own opinion is if you can afford to buy a car then you shouldn’t be allowed to access the scheme in rhe first place, I know if I could afford to purchase a vehicle I would , its a lifeline to me .
Thanks Motability, keep up the good work
