I guess they could just buy the used car you want and then lease it to you and apply to get a refund of the vat after the fact, as companies do.
Many already pay an Ap on a car and I am sure they could offer some sort of package deal over the term of the agreement. Thing is I feel they want to keep you captive to the model they have.
It would add an extra cost and they’d need more staff and maybe another whole dept at mb.
So i don’t see it happening. Maybe all disabled drivers should be allowed to buy a car vat free, but that opens up another can of worms and misuse. So maybe a limit on how often and how many over a period of time.
Unless there’s profit in it for MBO, I don’t see them doing in on a large scale.
I wouldn’t see them wanting to offer loans to disabled people either to get something suitable for their needs that’s not currently on the scheme.
Something like a lease to buy scheme, where even if you did lose your pip for instance you could still keep the car or they can take it back if you cannot afford it as finance would do, but after the end of the lease you will own the car not MBO.
The model of leasing and making profits from the sale of the cars at the end of the lease, needs to end imo and more choice’s/options needs to be given to us. Especally as we move towards no ice cars and ev’s are not suitable for all and if that’s you, what will the scheme offer you then. So something needs to be done.
