Hello
My wife is looking for her first motability car. She has sat in a few but is really struggling to get in and out comfortably. Her old car is an 03 plate Renault scenic . She can get in and out without any trouble.
None of the cars  are suitable does anybody have any recommendations

The car she has tried are

Renault Captur

MG ZS

Suzuki Vitara

Suzuki S Cross

Vauxhall Mokka

Ford EcoSport

Citroen C3 Aircross

Any help and advise would be appreciated

Try the Skoda Karoq it’s a great car and I’m going to get one from a Tiguan as they don’t do them anymore

my own shortlist is:

mokka

nissan juke and quashqai

skoda karoq comfiest seat ive tried

mazda cx5

the skoda kamiq is a bit lower but good.

Seat Ateca is similar to Karoq – built on the same VAG platform, but available with lower AP’s on some models. I currently have the slightly larger Tarraco, but this again is no longer available on Motability.

The Arona is also worth a look if you do decide to visit a Seat dealer.

Lack of MPV’s was an issue for us too. Try the van based MPV replacements like the Ford Torneo Connect,. It’s much the same size as the Scenic, so should be a close match. They are more car like and less van like than they look. The Ford is actually a VW Caddy – built in VW’s plant and rebadged. Brand new model just released.

The problem with small SUV/crossovers is they are just small cars on stilts, so there is not much height/legroom gains like there is in the Scenic, this is mitigated somewhat (but not completely) by going to larger crossovers like the HS/Ateca/Tiguan sized cars that are actually a closer match size wise to the Scenic.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

The VW Tiguan All-Space is available but looking at Sirog situation I’m not sure if the size of the car is a problem.

With myself its getting in and out of the car and its size for carry disabled gear so TBH the only one to be able to judge the getting into and out of any car is the OP wife.

I can only assume that things have got worst since a year ago before I ordered a new SWB Tiguan, it was bad back then, and actually finding dealers with new cars in the showroom were like looking for Hen’s teeth and I had to use a year old second-hand Tiguan that was in the showroom for trying getting in and out of the thing only to be nicely asked if I was finished after 5 mintues as someone had just that minutes bought the car and were waiting to get on their way.
