Hello Folks,
First post but regular reader of the forum.
My experience of ordering a VW Golf GTD is almost a mirror of Talvid’s experience of the same car mentioned in another thread.
I ordered on 2 April of this year and had built dates of week 31, then 44, 45 and 46. Received a phone call on Monday to say it was now week 5 2022 (unconfirmed).
I was down at my dealership mid September to find out how progress was going. Iwas given an A4 sized letter from Andrew Savva dated 26 July 2021s, was wondering if any other VW customers had been given same?
The letter is complete fantasy in my opinion, its title is in bold and says
Potential production delays on your Volkswagen order.
Personally think 10 month wait or more is a hard fact delay not potential. They also look to inspire me with an outstanding product, perhaps they are in possession of a crystal ball and can see far into the future my long awaited Golf. Mr Savvas also asks for patience, I have been patient but it seems that is not enough for them, they are looking for an additional 3 months at minimum.
Delays in build are down to bottlenecks in supplies in particular semiconductors and effect such things as towbars, sunroofs and suspension and infotainment
Mr Savvas is though confident that this unsatisfactory situation on waiting times will improve in the second half of 2021, if that’s improvement, Myself and Mr Savvas have differing opinions of improvement I think.
Dealers will also keep us informed about or orders but not in my case it seems, when I asked my dealer what had changed in less than 2 weeks to push my order back another 3 months he couldn’t tell me, so much for informed then. We’ve delayed your build again but not going to give you a reason why.
To end with a bit of positive news, there is a whole paddock of Golfs sitting at Wolfsburg just needing chips so perhaps others on the forum cars are built and chips fitted soon.
If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen
