joeJust been and ordered the Skoda Kodiaq 1.5tsi DSG before Q1 blows it out of the water. I tried to hold on until the new prices had leaked out. Skoda always seem to be one of the slowest so I took the plunge. I’ve contacted a few dealerships over the last few days to gauge the likelihood of price increases. All of them said its inevitable but couldn’t/wouldn’t say what the actual prices were. Having seen the Jeep prices I took that as a sign to move ASAP. I like to get a deal, but no one offered anything off the AP citing the expected increase in Q1.The price is locked in but I’m still going to keep an eye on the Q1 list just incase something crops up.

BrydoCracking choice Joe and seriously underrated IMO which colour did you go for?

Although I haven’t seen a Kodiaq in Racing Blue, I imagine it would look awesome! You must post some pictures once it arrives. What trim-level did you specify?

joeI went for SE, which was with my sensible head on. I couldn’t justify the extra £1400 for the SEL spec. I currently have the ford galaxy titanium x which has all the extras leather, heated seats etc but that cost £1795 3 yrs ago. The kodiaq came out then but was double that price around £3500. I though i’d wait till renewal its bound to have dropped by then, nope it has less options now. So SE at £1845 was right on budget, I don’t use the 7 seats but carry a lot of gear around day to day so still need the space. They had a vrs in racing blue on the forecourt, I think that may have swayed my colour choice … not that I’m that fussed really. I do like to have the top trim level in all my cars so this will be a chance to see if I can live without all the add ons, I’m sure I’ll miss the heated seats in winter, although only £265 but once you start adding options you can’t stop.
December 29, 2020 at 2:01 pm #133738Coming to the end of my 3 year lease with the Kodiaq SE L, Joe. So I can tell you, you are going to absolutely love it. I seriously don’t think I’ll ever drive a more comfortable riding car, unless I win the lottery. Think I’ll have a tear in my eye when she goes in March.

BrydoJoe the blue and black are the best options IMO with the blue just shading it, forgive the pun. It will be interesting to see how you get on without the “bits and bobs” your used to but maybe Santa will drop you a belated Xmas present with vastly reduced AP allowing you get the higher spec.

The SE is a great trim-level and yes, I also remember the Kodiaq being priced at around £3,500 when it first launched on the scheme.
The Racing Blue on the vRS looks delicious!

MartinodCan I ask how you managed to order a car as all the car dealers here are closed due too lock down for the next 3 weeks
December 29, 2020 at 2:51 pm #133745
joeMartinod I’m in Manchester so Tier 3 as of today, I’m sure we will be pushed up the ladder from tomorrow. another reason for getting out there to order whilst I can.
Markymark, i remember you getting yours and being envious at the time. I followed your post ever since. I’ve felt it helped cement my opinion, that my next car would be the Kodiaq.
Brydo I’m hoping the ap goes down but little chance in reality. I am also slightly concerned regarding MPG as you are with the xC40. Maybe Markymark can elaborate on his fuel consumption although I thin he had the 1.4 ?
December 29, 2020 at 3:11 pm #133748What a great choice, Joe.
I so very nearly chose the same. It’s a cracking car.? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

Mike11Joe if price comes down can your dealer cancel the order and order at the new price ?

Yes, Joe, I’ve got the 1.4 TSi 6-speed DSG. On long journey’s I get a steady 44/45 MPG, and on short jaunts It averages 34/36. I don’t think this is bad considering its a breeze block on wheels. You should be getting more once its run in a bit due to smaller tyres and the extra 7th gear. Gonna miss the old girl when it’s change over time.
Enjoy the bear when you get it.
December 29, 2020 at 3:33 pm #133754@Markymate, would you consider another one?
I’m honestly keeping fingers crossed that when I come to change, albeit in three years that it’s still here and a reasonable AP.A lot of wishful thinking I know but you never know. ?

December 29, 2020 at 4:30 pm #133765BionicRusty. At a drop of a hat is the answer to your question. Had my mind set on ordering another SE L but gradually this year, Skoda started removing bits that were standard equipment and making them options. The straw that broke the camels back was when the removed the top of the range Columbus infotainment system and made it a £1200 option. So, along with the other bits taken it just didn’t seem value for money at £3295.
So I’m swapping it for it’s cousin, the Tarraco. I originally ordered the Excellence Lux, but then had a boy racer moment and changed it for the FR in Merlot red, also getting £300 off the AP which helps!!

SouthammanI know where you are coming from.
I was very disappointed tgat they removed the Columbus, mtgey also removed adaptive cruise control
in the end I ordered a superb estate SEL, which is better specced and same space

Clipped wingsCongratulations Joe. As a then happy Skoda owner, was also waiting for the Kodiaq to come onto the scheme last time. Went for the Touran SEL instead and now expecting delivery of an Allspace SEL in silk blue. Went for the Allspace as had all the goodies and worked out cheapest. All four are near identical underneath. Kodiaq built by Skoda, the Spanish one built in Germany and the German one built in Mexico! If I was a private buyer, would go for the Skoda and keep it for at least 6 years.

The Superb estate would be my first choice all day long, even test drove one again in November, but sadly it reinforced the reason why I couldn’t order one. I can’t get on of the bloody thing 🙁

joeMy wife want entertain the Superb, due to it being low down. I’ve always been tempted. However the trim at the lower end is better on the Kodiaq.

Joe JohnsonI’ve been waiting to hear back from the dealership. Just had a call to confirm they have a car to the colour and spec I wanted at another dealer. It has been agreed that it will be delivered to my dealer later this month. So after thinking it could be anywhere up to 6 months, before it made it out of the factory I’m a little surprised. So roll on Jan ….

Joe JohnsonForgot to mention I also got the £100 discount this quarter taken off too.

MarkymateThere you are just picking yours up, and me on the brink of giving mine back. I was going to say enjoy the Bear, but I don’t have to, I know you will, Joe! Been the best car I’ve had the pleasure of driving.
