Yep nothing new in camden where i used to live and my family still does, for years many rat runs have been closed off and that leaves very few options for getting to alot of place without using the main roads. Often having to go the long way round and creating more gridlock and pollution.
There is even one where there is a width restriction that is block one way in the am and the other in the pm. you get a fine fromn a camera and is as cash cow for those that don’t realise. blue badges are exempt and then on the hole rout there these hug nasty humps that kill your car and your back if you go over them at more than 1mph.
Lets not mention the cycle lanes alng the kerb and cars are now parked in the middle of the road. very dangerous for crossing roads imo. As tthere is now very little room to avoid if something is coming the otherway. Plus the c-charge is coming to within the north and south cirular roads next year i heard.
They want the demise of the car, i have said thios for years it’s a UN project and no one wants to see it. it not just electric cars and emmissions. it’s they don’t want you owning a car and having the freedom to travel in luxury around when ever you want. For us all with mobility issues roads are getting closed altogether all over the country and it makes alot of places unaccessable. There is a pot of 250 million for getting cars off the road schemes. was in preston last week and cycle lanes are not being used at all causing gridlock, where there was not any. so they can further say we need to do more. they create the chaos then offer the solutions and all pre-planed. However near me now i live in a smallish town not much has changed at all..
