it does not take that much juice to make hydrogen, you could make your own fuel cell at home, the reason hydrogen has not took off completely is that to create it on a large scale requires a lot of platinum in the process ( a cup sized home made device can make it from an old square battery) but the platinum is used as the conductor as it won’t corrode is were the major cost is and at the moment not fully viable due to cost and probably people will go and destroy filling stations for the platinum as the amount under one pump would probably cover the cost of a house! once they figure out something cheaper it will happen every govt around the world makes money on fuel tax, where do you think they will make the money if we all drove charge at home cars… on our electric.
P.S on the point of car manufactures spending money to hydrogen after spending millions on electric, we it wont effect them much as change to hydrogen will just mean removing batteries and adding a fuel cell in its place and one small waste pipe and thats it as hydrogen fuel cell will just run the motors ect that are already in place. look at a fuel cell like a battery that runs out then you fill up at a pump in 15 minutes… its the future, its just cost is big issue at moment.
