4WD or AWD + summer tyres = no better than 2WD 2WD + winter tyres = much better grip 4WD + winter tyres = best grip in snow. A common misconception and it always makes me smile when someone says “I need a 4WD because I live at the bottom of a steep hill with hairpin bends” Err, no you don’t
Do you mean that I don’t live at the bottom of a steep hill or that I don’t need a 4WD?
Of course tyres make a big difference but sometimes you also need 4WD and if the snow is very deep then you could still be stuck!
