One of my business contacts got fed up of the reliability problems with his Range Rover and bought one of these. He says it’s a fantastic car and is getting more for his business. Another guy I know who owns a car leasing company says we are about to see a lot of them soon on the roads as he’s struggling to keep up with demand.

My financial advisor has recently purchased a Range Rover Sport. It’s a top end one with a load of options that was £124k new and he was pleased to have picked it up for the bargain price of £80k 😵‍💫. I thought he was mad, but didn’t like to say. He’s already had a few problems with it and service from the main dealer has been absolutely dire. It’s rare to see cars broken down at the roadside these days, but when I do see them I’d say that over half of them are Land Rovers or Range Rovers. It’s a shame, as I love the look of them, but they consistent come bottom in every single reliability survey

Obviously we don’t have to worry about this as they aren’t on the scheme, but I do wonder what these Chinese cars, which we are getting on the scheme, will be like over time. I confess that I have zero knowledge of Chinese cars, but it would worry me that pretty much every other consumer product that has come out of China in recent decades has been cheap and nasty with woeful longevity.
