Besides it’s all a bit of a moot point as the retail value is of no concerns to us or Motability, so to go back to my original point… apart from the snob value why wait?
Do I really have to explain this yet again? A newer reg car will always be worth more. That’s a fact that only you would disagree with. The residual value at lease end absolutely is of ultimate concern to us. Residual values are a major factor in determining APs. In fact, Motability are increasing APs specifically due to concerns over residual values, so to prevent people from choosing to take a car a few days later to get the newer reg (when they are happy to do so) is shooting themselves in the foot, and ultimately results in us paying larger APs than we need to. To delay slightly to get the new reg isn’t ‘snob value’ it’s common sense. I suspect that you still won’t agree, but I can’t explain it any clearer I’m afraid.
Come Monday, Ive had my car for 6 weeks but, will look 6 months old!
If after 3 years my car sits on a dealers forecourt next to a 74 plate, with both cars having the same ball park mileage, the same colour, your telling me they will be priced the same or a few quid apart. If it was the dealer would be left with 24 plate!
