I wish some would stop perpetuating lies. The charging infrastructure isn’t bad at all. I had one problem in 3 years and 3 years ago charging was a very different beast. For example Uttoxeter there’s a charger at a Lidl 50kw recent next door a drive thru Starbucks open with TEN 150kw chargers.
Ranges are long my MG only managed about 160 miles and the 5 was a bit better now in theory some like the Enyaq are over 300 miles.
If you haven’t had direct experience then you really ought to not speak up, you’re just parroting rubbish you’ve read in the Mail etc mostly.
As for electricity costs even now we are paying about 16p/kWh each month via Octopus Agile it’s not difficult just do t put the cooker on between 4 and 7pm and your unit price quickly tumbles and you don’t need an EV either.
EV are always the answer no. If you’re a full the car up drive 500 miles without stopping then it’d be a culture shift but everyone who goes on about I can do X in my petrol well yes but how often do you need to? Most of us it’ll be with and back plus shops and back 90% of the time.
Even the MG with 150 mile range did Norfolk to Alton Towers in about 4 hours Inc stops which are good stops anyway.
You can cancel anytime up till you input your pin to collect the car however I’d do the maths first you might find switch tariffs and you’ll be financially better off.
We saved a fortune, £200 a month I was spending on diesel previously before prices shot up btw. Our total electric bill is under £200 a month that’s a 3 bed house, 4 people in it, 3 Xboxes, pcs etc, fridge freezer plus 2 freezers plus air source heat pump plus the EV too
I call that a bargain tbh
