Persuaded Mrs 72 Dudes to go and have a look at an i4, even though neither of us are particularly pro EVs.

Ended up test driving an edrive 35 albeit in M Sport trim, unaccompanied and for about an hour.

After 2 minutes, she said “this is the car I want”. It is phenomenal!

The ride was firm controlled and smooth, with no harshness at all

The Sport should be marginally softer. There are no adaptive dampers as one contributor suggested.

The cabin is very quiet, with just a whisper of wind noise from the frameless windows at motorway speeds. Road noise noticeable but probably because of the lack of other noise.

Performance is breathtaking. I loved the regenerative braking, I don’t remember using the brake pedal more than twice.

Quality is right up there and the car has that “special feel” possibly more so than our existing XC40.

Ended up ordering a Skyscraper Grey version. Delivery possibly February/March.

However, this is an administrative order with Motability only, as following the advice that @Glos Guy gives, I asked about build slots and the earliest is November, so no order with BMW will have been placed yet

Just to add we were treated extremely well by all staff at the dealer and were made to feel special and valued.

The feeling of the Motability specialist was that this car will not remain on the scheme for long, so anyone considering one who is in the position of being able to order should not hang about!
