I dn’t think Chrome plating will banned in that sense, rather they are banning industry use of using Hexavalent chromium (CR6). The use of Chromate (V1) is a PH neutral form of Chromium and the likes of Trivalent chromium aren’t being banned. Though Trivalent is more of a dull finish. There are others but can’t think of top of my head.
This will have a massive knock on effect to industry’s you wouldn’t think used CR6. Asides that its only hazourdos t the user/plater, who for health and safety reasons wear the correct safety gear, just as they do in other industry’s. There was talk a few years back of Alochrom which would have had a massive effect on the aerospace industry, along with Tin plating that would have an equal effect on industry 🙂
