I agree Rico on @joss picking up a cheap optiplex Pi 4b boards aren’t really cheap compared to a 2nd gen or higher i3 or 5 – As said I have a Proliant in loft so that runs everthing. Maybe Joss has something spare with him building gaming /PC’s
what do you use to monitor temperature in rooms?
I’m going to have a good read tomorrow of home assistant. However I think whils’t were on the same path, programming etc, were forked how we achieve the end goal. For starters I don’t think you use Arduino and I built a voice control interface and used ASK similator to test it. However I joined Amazons developer program to handle the back end. It works the same as an Echo device would.
From memory If I used an Echo device (Alexa) I would have to connect it to nodeMCU to Easy VR3 or use Arduino IoT cloud with Alexa using ES8266, Arduino Uno and sensor etc.
I also use a 3d printer to make housings for example – hold a motor and arduino board etc and in the case of blinds a spindle connects to the connecting part that opens/closes them.
With me soundproofing lounge andpart of kitchen diner (no I not doing a music studio) everything off the walls, as I’m going to loose approx 6 inches of interior space, you want notice because my rooms are big. So I’m very interested what your using as I will be starting from a blank canvas essentially, if I don’t use what I did previous as the boards could be used in other stuff.
