Further to my last post, I forgot to say that if I had attempted to sell the car privately, I would have needed to have 4 new tyres fitted and some damage to a front valance sorted out before advertising it. The main dealer that I sold it to didn’t bat an eyelid and made no attempt to re-negotiate the price downwards based on these issues. I honestly believe that I wouldn’t have got any more money privately once all that was done (and quite possibly ended up with less) but I save myself a load of hassle and stress.
