I doubt many people were affected by the campaigning by either side up to the referendum and most had already made up their mind. Already the European parliament elections had sent a majority of ‘leave’ MEPs to Brussels. I decided the EU was bad for this country in 1998 when I had official dealings with the EU bureaucracy. It was clear then they were saying one thing and doing the opposite, and not working in our interests.
