Many days of vanilla weather later . . . and it’s still vanilla.  But could be some Sunshine tomorrow, which means a possible ‘Drivies’ opportunity.

Assuming, that is, that the on-going ‘Problem with the Drains’ doesn’t rear its’ ugly had again: There is a blockage in the Mains Sewer under the road.  As our house is at the ‘End of the line’ for the shared waste water/sewer drain, ours is the first drain to back up and we’re always the ones who have to call out Thames Water to deal with it.  They came out on the 10th December and ‘fixed it’ using their ‘Domestic drain’ scale pump, only for it to block again on the 16th.  They came out again and ‘fixed it’ again using the ‘Domestic drain’ pump, but this time the Engineer said (and I quote) “I hope it will stay clear for more than six days this time!  What it really needs is the ‘City Vac’.”  (The City Vac is the Tanker with the uber-pump that they use for – wait for it –  clearing blockages in road sewers.

This morning the drains started backing up again.  Their fix lasted four days and I bet you anything you like they haven’t even scheduled the City Vac to come and clear the blockage.

So I’ll probably be on the ‘phone to Thames Water again . . .
