Hi Sue
The model I’m looking at is the Full Hybrid not the PHEW so the battery being only 1.1KW sits under the floor between the front and back wheels.
But yes its the boot space that causing me much hesitation but the Motability guy at my local did put my scooter in the boot but it was only just too long being 41” however since then I’ve done a bit of experimenting with my grandsons help and set the seats in my current car (KIA Carens) so its boot is the same as the Kuga with the Kuga’s rear seats slide forward, very important point because previous Kuga’s never had that ability.
My old scooter that I still have is 39.5” long so that’s why another visit is on the card next week to see if that one fits in the boot but our experiment also included twisting the scooter slightly so the front wheel sits between the back-seat of the Kuga and the back of the hoist so if it doesn’t go straight in then maybe the angled way might work.
As loading a scooter into the car was something new to me on my last change over but have a bit of experience with that now but yes the slopping roof of cars is a nightmare and is why I prefer MPV’s but these days I take the seat off my scooter and lay it on the scooters floor before loading so headroom isn’t such a problem to how it use to be for me.
If I can’t get it to work the Tiguan will be back on when it returns sometime next year by m reckoning.
