Thanks for the input folks. Think I will try and get a test drive in the 1.5 petrol once the plague has passed, or at least quieted down a bit. @glos guy never had a BMW to compare it to, nice cars but I would have to wear my cap the wrong way, buy some sunglasses and learn how to tailgate properly ?

Hi Shaun. That made me smile! I don’t know where you live, but around here most BMW drivers are middle aged professionals, not the Chav types that you describe ? . I know you were saying it in jest, but I find it amusing that those who dismiss BMW’s, or still cling on to the outdated perception that everything, including the steering wheel, is an optional extra (almost true until around 10-15 years ago) have almost always never had one! Over many decades I have lost count of how many cars I have owned, leased, hired or just driven, but it’s well into three figures and I’ve driven cars from most mainstream manufacturers. I have to say that based on my experience, not a lot comes close to BMW’s. The only car in recent years that I enjoyed as much or more was a Porsche Macan. I haven’t had a BMW for a year now and have to say that I am missing them. The VW that we currently have is perfectly adequate but is a poor relation to my previous BMW’s in so many areas. In some respects I wish I’d never discovered BMW’s!
