Agreed – if things continue the way they are doing with Motability and the type of vehicles they are offering this may be my last – then I’ll either extend lease or maybe look into purchasing it from them. I don’t do that many miles so car will hopefully be in decent condition after 3/5 years.

That’s a fantastic result. Enjoy what is a fantastic car, take it from me you will love it.
I am absolutely gob smacked – head and shoulders over the Seat Taracco it replaced.
Just picked up my 320i series touring today – bit of a bonus it has the full digital dash and large 10 inch infotainment – apparently bmw were struggling for the standard dash etc so have put the next one up in – it is awesome !!

By sheer fluke I ordered BMW 3 Series Touring 2.0 Litre on Thursday last week ! Looks like I was lucky Dave
Nobody likes a smug ‘bar steward’ Dave Well done though. You bagged the best car on the scheme IMO which is sadly no more. Secretly hoping that my wife will find the 318i Touring too low / difficult to get in and out of compared to the SUV’s we have had for years, so that I won’t have ‘320i envy’ for 3 years! I will just have to console myself that having had a 525i, 530d and even a 750i over the years I can still, to a degree, look down my nose at you 320i drivers . On a serious note, I’m sure you won’t regret the decision. I had several 320d Tourings much earlier in my career and all were superb. The newer ones will be even better.
Hi – not smug just lucky !
It’s replacing a Tarraco that’s only 15 months old – but had huge problems with the vehicle since I got it – neither myself nor Motability could get the dealer to resolve the many problems so they agreed to an early termination……..
I was struggling to find a vehicle with a remote tailgate that closed as well as opened from the fob – they are rare !!
No heated seats on the Taracco – but I looked at both and went with the Taracco – the ONLY thing I don’t like about it is that the boot wont go down via the remote…………..it just goes up with it.
Agreed – don’t tell the dealer Motability agreed with them.

Quick update – 700 miles drove and mpg is at 34mpg – so it’s improving !
I just posted on another thread- tried the CARISTA dongle mentioned above – Amazon for £15 with a free month trial included.
Can’t see a “close boot/trunk” from fob option listed anywhere in app – can anybody help ?
I have the CARISTA as recommended above (£15.99 from amazon with 1 free month of usage) – but no remote boot close option on it.
I did switch on the “locak doors automatically when keys removed from car” option – but that didn’t seem to work……………not sure what I’m doing wrong ?
I did manage to get different logos on infotainment system – but thats not much use !
Can anybody enlighten me ?

Just on phone to Motability………they say I should NOT have entered my PIN if it didn’t match the spec that I was told originally.
I explained that at point of pick up I asked this exact question and was told he would mark it on the handover sheet. Indeed he DID mark it on the paperwork.
They are going to try and resolve it for me ………………….. #holdsbreathAugust 27, 2019 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #86255
Hi whiteswan. In same position as you with the allspace, my dealer says he’s ordered me a new one with the key fob boot close option, building this week! can’t say I’m 100% convinced, but they’ve told me its sorted, so have to be patient and trust they’ve got it right this time! I was hunting around at similar size cars to with key fob open and close last week, thinking they couldn’t source an allspace. I prefer the SUV styles and to be honest, it’s not as easy to find something that has such a big boot moving away from the VAG cars. the Mitsubishi outlander has stood out. It has bit bigger boot, not much difference in car length, but its taller, and has an open close boot on the key fob. It’s not as top with all the driving specs you have on your tarraco, but if like me you need the bigger boot and opening and closing on key, it fits that. You can get heated leather seats and steering wheel and it does have 360 cameras etc in certain spec models. They do a 2.0 engine now as well as PHEV in the new models. The Peugeot 5008 again similar to ours, with bigger boot, but the open close boot only comes in top spec models. Think there is a long wait for them though. I don’t like them because the front cockpit is styled with lots of ‘sticking out’ edges and feels a lot more closed in than our current cars and limits leg room in the front.. I also constantly bashed my elbow on the rather highly sitting middle bit (where the gear lever is and central storage compartment) so many times trying it, but perhaps that’s just me. Some levels come full of tech if you like that sort of thing, and all the seats move individually so it’s quite adaptable. C5 aircross, have a narrow and shallow boot opening . It has a boot floor you can lower to gain height once past the opening but when you lower the floor you are left with a ‘runner’ at the back of the rear seats that doesn’t move so you cant gain anymore boot length moving the seats…but maybe if you dont need a tall boot so dont need to lower the floor it could work. I agree such, such nice cars, such a shame they decided no boot close on the key fob. Apparently the standard tiguan comes with that, but they are smaller. The Mazda CX5 has key fob boot operation, but it’s a lot shorter.
I feel your pain !August 26, 2019 at 6:38 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #86201
The silence from my dealer is “deafening” with regards to the electric closing boot. It was top of my list of wants at ordering.
I will call them tomorrow morning.
The car itself has been awesome to be honest – would be a shame if I had to start looking all over again just because if this – and the thing is (apart from my lexus rx450 I had 5 years ago) – would I even find a vehicle of similar size that offered the electric boot ?August 25, 2019 at 1:40 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #86108
You drove a bottom spec vw they’ve had the digital dash since 2017 at least. But as I said vag saved the best version for Audi, then a few years later put a lesser one in the vw and then eventually vw passed it on to seat and Skoda. Im so used to the dash now it feels odd driving my sons brand new Mini Cooper s with just the trip computer. Seat have come on a long way in recent years. They used to be really basic cars. Ive not driven a Mercedes for years I do like the newest interior design but yes it looks like it would take ages to get used to the functions
Its interesting what you say about the Tiguan as the salesman assured me it was the “top spec” of the Motability Options – this was May 2019 – to be fair he did seem dis-interested.
He stated the “wait time” was at least 5 months for the Tiguan which was another deciding factorAugust 24, 2019 at 6:49 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #86077
The Tarraco uses all vw tech, that was in the mk2 Tiguan since it was released. I think it just depends what spec Tiguan you compare it to, now most manufacturers have their own version. As far as I know there’s nothing new on the seat that hasn’t already been on the vw for a few years? Im the same I love the digital dash but I prefer the massage seats,,l Our old 2014 Audi virtual cockpit had a better screen with more colour and functions. So this version feels old now. If seat had to creat their own brand new tech it wouldn’t be competitive on price.
The Tiguan I drove felt “old” – it didn’t have a digital dash – I suppose it didn’t help coming from a Mercedes c200 estate that had everything – but was complicated to use – the Taracco felt comparable to the Mercedes – with a little bit more.
Love the fact you can store the privacy cover for the estate part at the back underneath the boot floor – the amount of times I had forgotten the load cover on the merc and had to go back for it !August 22, 2019 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #85992
Dave Keep us informed. They can code it we know it’s easily done, but as to doing it? I suspect they will have to order a new one and swap your car when it comes.
Hoping they re-code it – surely even ordering a new one it will be the same is it’s “disabled” for the UK ?August 21, 2019 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #85937
Ok that’s odd then Dave my tiguan has the camera and remote opening and closing tailgate with the feature of waving a foot under the rear bumper. The reason seat and Vw gave in the USA was it is a safety feature on 7 seat cars? Then another dealer said it’s because there is no reverse camera? Sounds like a cop out to me. But I agree they shouldn’t sell cars without knowing all features after all that’s their job. I did make sure the dealer went through all features on mine. I think I’d have walked away if they left the closing feature off of ours. No dealer would have talked me into entering a PIN number.
Hi – I told the salesman when I collected it that if he couldn’t modify it to remote close with the key as promised that I will have to consider rejecting it – he agreed with this and said that he would mark it down on the handover sheet – which he did.
He has agreed to come back to me with a solution soon -otherwise I assume as he said that I can just return the car.

Yes I think holding the button on the door works – but I haven’t tried it yet.
Will report back.
I honestly had no idea and was surprised !

By the way – if anybody can talk me through doing the remote boot open/close using the OBD 11 I will give it a go as a last resort if dealer doesn’t fix it.
I looked at their website and it appears a new version is coming out – but it’s been delayed for an unspecified period of time – I may get the old one as the main point about the new version is it ios compatible but that doesn’t bother me.

Dave have you read the other posts on the same problem. The dealers say it’s a safety feature? As there is no reversing camera?? But if they told you in good faith it has the feature they should honour it. If not you can buy a obd2 dongle and change the code to activate it.
Hi – mine DOES have a reversing camera though…….yes I saw the other thread and also posted in it.
I will look into the OBD2 but think it’s up to the dealer to sort out as that was the main feature my C Class Estate did not have – it was top of the list when I ordered it.August 19, 2019 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Seat TARACCO Collected yesterday – any questions ? #85825
Hi – not too worried about the mpg – a full tank usually lasts 2-3 weeks as we don’t go far to be honest.
It’s more about comfort and load space – which this has plenty of.
LOVING the android auto – it once again today read out a text message to me whilst driving and allowed me to reply with my voice as well !! Never had to get my phone once.
Annoying you can open tailgate from fob but not close it – I specifically asked the question at ordering – I asked the dealer to mark it down on the order form before handover – they are supposed to be calling me this week.

Its a Automatic DSG 2.0 LITRE – I believe there are 2 power levels available (sorry not too technical) – mine is the lower one.
5008 Just didn’t like the look of it……….The Tiguan All Space wasn’t as well specced and also the wait time was 5 months when I enquired – this was built and delivered in 7 weeks.
I did consider the Kodiaq – but the decided to go with something Brand New !
Picked up my Taracco yesterday – same as you – no electric boot close on fob as promised by the salesman – it was noted on the hand over note and a manager will call me next week – also no wireless charging pad for my phone – apparently this was removed after I ordered mine.
To be fair to the salesman – it has been my best Motability experience in the last 4 cars I have had – I will do a separate thread about that.
Mine has the wiggly foot open/close – it’s going to take some practice to find exactly the right spot ! This morning with the tailgate open I was loading some stuff into the back of the car – my foot must have gone too far under the rear bumper and the tailgate came down ! You have to be so careful with it.
I will do separate threads for the car itself and the dealership.
My dealer says not to worry as I can close my Terraco with the “virtual pedal” – wave my foot underneath the back bumper twice…………great for a wheelchair user !!
Hmmmmm I pick up my TARRACO Next Thursday and was told close boot works from the key – but as it’s based on the Allspace/Kodiaq I am beginning to doubt it will.
Really don’t want to have an argument with the dealer.
