This is the response from the dealer. It looks like I won’t get my deposit back. They will be charged 2k for a cancelled order?

. I have also spoken with Motability and they have advised the same John. We do not set the bar in regards to their advance payments as we are just an intermediary as we just supply the car we never get to own it at the end Motability does.

Your order form dates the car to arrive in Nov as discussed before and it still has an ETA of November 29th at the moment. I can understand your frustration in regards to the payment going down. But it does go both ways John if the Advance payment say had risen over £2999 (me personally I would not expect you pay above that) but that is because the price change has happened in a new quarter.

You have every right to cancel your order John, but I do not know where you stand in regards to your deposit, as the supplier Volvo has ordered the car and we will be charged £2000 for any cancelled order.

I will however speak with Motability again on your behalf today and see if they can do anything.

This is the mail I have just sent to the dealer.

I have spoken to Motability who said the AP would remain the same.

I now find myself in a ridiculous situation. If someone ordered the same spec car now, they would pay an AP of £1299, whilst I am paying £2999.

In light of this, and the fact that the delivery has been delayed, would I get my deposit back if I cancelled the order? I do not want to cancel the order, I just don’t think it’s fair that I pay £1700 more. I would cancel the order and raise another order to pay the lower AP.

I spoke to Motability earlier, who said that the AP would remain the same.

I said that I was going to speak to the dealer to see if I could get my deposit back. I also told them even if I did not get my deposit back I would still be saving £700, which is just stupid. It’s not as if it’s a couple of hundred quid.

This is a ridiculous situation. I have not got the car but if someone orders the exact car now, they pay £1299 whilst I am stuck with paying £2999.

Forgot to put what the paperwork says about cancelling the order.

    Just an update.

Not heard anything from the dealer so far.

I sent Motability a mail from their website on Thursday morning, and I have not had any response from them either. Does anyone know if you get a confirmation e-mail from Motability saying they have received the mail?

When I ordered the car they wanted 1k deposit. So I am guessing that if I say I want to cancel I will lose the deposit.

I emailed the dealer last night and his response was ‘I will speak with Motability and see what they say. It’s not us that governs the prices it’s them’.
