You can dry stuff in a heat pump dryer you can’t in a condenser as it runs at a much lower temp. It’s made a huge difference for us anyway can dry just about anything now even wool.
If they’re relatively recent windows I’d be very surprised thought it was a legal thing to have trickle vents now, maybe they’re internal ones.
When the kids were just outta nappies it was always the wife that had the I need the toilet problem on journeys the kids fresh outta na}pipes never peed in the car lol
Have you got your trickle vents open on your windows? That might be enough to stir the air. As soon as you said clothes dryer I knew that’s what it’d be.
Can I offer a bit of advice? If you’ve got the room for one get yourself a heat pump tumble dryer, we got a sub £400 Beko one a few years ago costs us about £30 a month to run with 2 adults 2 teens plus pets so it gets used a lot, every day for sure it’s so cheap to use vs a condenser dryer that it’s more efficient than a clothes horse.
Unfortunately they wouldn’t go for that either they’ve been quite unhelpful.
Well it’s looking better now dug the drain out and found the old waste pipe that wasn’t replaced was angled upwards to outside so good job we told them to replace it as last time he just connected to the old pipe.
Where he dug the floor up he found no evidence of damp proofing so he’s put bitumen down today and hell latex Monday.
He’s also started boarding the walls off again but this time he’s putting proper insulation behind the ply.
Also the framing looks a lot better too
Just filled central heating up from the loop in airing cupboard so that means there’s no anti freeze in it now, hilarious can’t wait for the heat pump to get destroyed next cold weather….
Top tip stay away from the low bridges lol seen waaay too many boats crashed into the.
Just go slow and enjoy the view there’s so many fools that race about. Haven’t done boat hire in forever it gets so busy the thought makes me ill and then outside the better months the weather is poo so we tend not to go should really it’s a lot of fun even going on one of the broads cruises.
Talking of broads cruise and byre valley railway is awesome and miniature worlds in Wroxham too if anyone wants something away from a boat for a bit.
My kids would live in miniature worlds if they could
Pretty sure dumping anti freeze is illegal. Draining down rads
Don’t get me started on the toilet had soooo many arguments over that must be doc m, what’s the difference between doc m and a comfort height if the height is the same, oooooooh no definitely not suitable.
Asked for a back to wall toilet but apparently no one makes a doc m back to wall, seeing as they’re panelling the wall why not fit a frame and floating toilet my first thought as only needs like 12cm depth or so but no.
Last argument guy from HA sent in text to wife if they fit a non standard toilet they can’t support it if it breaks going forward as they’ve never used them before. There’s me thinking nearly all close coupled loos work in a similar way how advanced could a loo be that they won’t work on it going forward. Really mad it’s like we’ll if you’re getting what you ask for then I’m going to stick this threat in to frighten u off
On top of this heating company just turned up to take some pipes out that they left hanging out of the ceiling last time, no appointment, no call just bang bang on the door and now need furniture moved to lift floorboards upstairs…..
I swear never using the grant again it’s more hassle than its worth 21 working days since they started work now
After a good start ended up with a different salesman ordering and quite frankly I can’t stand him, I dunno if me but every email he’s sent me comes across as really arsey. Now I’m infamous at misreading intent so I’m super careful before jumping yo conclusions but even so one is not amooosed.
Ordered 30/12 he called me up around 4th to say he’d amended order to save me £400 since then I’ve asked twice for a build date and he’s been quite I’m going to say it, rude.
Might be worth an application for a grant if your income isn’t high. They were pretty good listening to me about my needs even agreeing to double the award when challenged over it
I think he fixed everything to the wall then cut the ply why anyone would do that tho?
Even using a multitool freehand you could do better than that lol
I had one as a hire car couldn’t get on with it due to that big drop with high door sills. Very nice little car though I’m sure you’ll love it
New plumbing much better
Yeah as he was ripping it out I could see all the awful stuff he’d done that was hidden like that awful plumbing
My wife could’ve done a better job of the plumbing than that.
He’s stripped a load out today and remade all that plumbing it’s all fixed to the wall properly straight as an arrow and he’s redone it carefully so there’s no need for that stupid bit of boxing in next to the toilet.
He’s going to see if he can move the drain as its right where I stand under the shower and came close to falling over on it last night. They also used an akw trap that can’t cope with the flow from a mixer shower only with an electric shower so he’s going to see if he can get a different one.
He does seem to care about his work which is great
Check out the non straight edge here unbelievable
Hope the spec is better than the ICE models I’ve got a 3008 GT at the moment and aside from lane keep assist that stays OFF as I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t try to kill you head on into oncoming traffic on unmarked C roads.
No heated seats the one thing I’d never ever do without it’s just a cheap thing to cheap out on.
As for size it’s passable it blows the awful awful awful DS3 away I was forced to drive around in for a month boots nice size back seat is wide enough for 3 teens or 2 teens plus dog front has enough room for adult plus dog in footwell if need be.
Overall I’d be concerned about practicality vs the Enyaq being the Sportline plus is £400 cheaper
We usually buy the pap special takeaway I’m not old enough but cid and chips for £6 plus slightly smaller portions just about right size for me.
As nice as the local coastal chippies are here I’ve found you cannot beat the battered cod at Morrisons cafe in Fakenham it’s almost free lol and it’s soooo good. Even cod at Wetherspoons was really nice recently too.
French’s and Plattens at Wells next the sea, Holt Fishbar in Holt as well as both local Eric’s restaurant and takeaway also Wills Plaice at East Runton all really nice.
Number one in Cromer is often good but had some bad experiences there too but £3.50 for a battered sausage….
It is nice to not cook and have fish and chips occasionally
All these jokes were left as they are just covered with plastic. Apart from the big one that has blue tissue shoved in it. All this plaster is as it was under the plastic it hasn’t been damaged by removal
Oh there was no insulation between plastic and pipes so the cold pipe was causing horrendous condensation all along the run too
Toilet cold feed note all the small kinks forming from freehand bending
Right new guy turned up today instantly got hopes up as he’s an older chap not an early 20s guy again no offence to hard working younger workers who do a good job.
Anyway arrived around 8 first thing talked to us about what we expected as his job sheet just said rip out start again, he saw immediately that there were justifiable issues. He started defending those gaps in the plastic panels and I said no ice seen other work they don’t have to be like that and he didn’t argue.
Where he’s pulled the stuff out I’ve got photos of how crap the work was behind the wall. No isolation valves accessible or otherwise.
The cold feed runs along the longer wall behind the panels and there’s not a single cleat holding it.
Where he’s tee’d off he’s bent the pipe by hand and out a kink in it.
He’s done similar to the cistern feed it’s just a long random gent by hand not fixed to the wall with a series of small kinks.
He missed great big bits around the window with the expanding foam.
He left an old piece of rotting wet wood behind the plastic that we’d asked him to remove as its soaked and black no he covered it up.
I realised that the position of the drain vs shower fittings means I have to stand on the chrome drain which caused me to fall over last night
This guy seems really nice he hasn’t trashed the other guy but he has said it shouldn’t be like this and he’s done x wrong. The windowsill wasn’t supposed to have a piece of corner trim on it meaning you couldn’t sweep stuff off it.
He’s trying to get us a doc m back to wall toilet replacement so no awkward cleaning behind loo, he’s also going to see if he can sneak the semi pedestal sink in for us too.
We shall see but I intend to take whats happened higher how you can do plumbing then bend pipes by hand kinking them eventually no doubt that would’ve blown and no isolation valves….
I’ll be keeping a very close eye on the build again
How did you contact Skoda and did you need any details from the dealer?
Oh it is fully sealed with the floor material making the skirting effectively they did that right at least we’ll aside from the threshold ending before the door lol just in this case the latex underneath isn’t fully level, if you spray the room with water you get puddles
We got the choice of colours etc before hand which was fine just makes you feel an inconvenience you know.
When I had the driveway done it was the opposite they were great probably because it wasn’t the HA, mind you they turned up 2 weeks after it went down and said were replacing the drains they were shocked when they saw the drive despite the HA giving permission for it they then wanted to dig it all up…..
I’m just glad the level access doors, ramp and patio aren’t being done by the HA.
Honestly I could just curl up in bed and cry from all of it. I really hate confrontation like that it makes me so ill, even the wife shouting at the kids sets me off. Think it goes back to my mum going nuts every Sunday when we were growing up she used to lose it over housework on Sundays she never hit us or anything but….. Even now a vacuum cleaner makes my physically react.
They wanna start again with a different fitter next week. Got to take so to emergency hospital appt tomorrow so as long as that’s OK they can start but if anything is wrong there we’ll have to put it offFebruary 21, 2024 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Looking at fitting an air source heat pump heat pump #259019
Supply and demand for labour I guess. It was the same over chargers
0nce we started talking about the floor pooling the guy kinda caved in and said we’re doing so much let’s start again. So hopefully.
I had a huge row with the guy about those panel gaps. Funnily enough he had examples on their phone like I said to him all your work? Not surprised the gaps are all the same then.
Said OK let’s get an independent wet room fitter in to write a report, he didn’t like that.
Some of the stuff was just so egregious like that 5″ coving next to 4″ etc that they’ve just hot no defence.
What’s really upset me though is being made to feel I’m unreasonable and he was still telling instead of listening
