My Ateca has it, and I hate it!!

It’s fine for motorways but around town/B roads etc. mine is a pain!, if someone in front turns left it slams the brakes on, even though I’m not even close.Β  I don’t mean it slows down, it literally almost brings me to a full stop while still in 4th or 5th gear causing the engine to stall.Β  Approaching a roundabout with the car in front slowing or passing the odd car parked at the side of the road often triggers it to do the same.

I’d prefer standard cruise control but you can’t have it, it’s either ACC or speed limiter which is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard πŸ™‚

I know the feeling!Β  My Autistic son and I moved from a 3 bed semi to a 2 bed bungalow almost 8yrs ago.

As you said the amount of crap you find is impressive!, just to make it easy we moved over the Xmas and New Year period so nobody was available to help apart from friend with a small pickup truck!

    Best of luck πŸ™‚

We (myself and Autistic adult son) have one or two takeaways a week.

Indian usually on a Tuesday as there’s one on Just Eat which offers 20% off for “Cheeky Tuesdays” he usually gets a Korma and I go for a Dupiaza. Β  I really miss a good Madras or Vindaloo but with the IBS etc. I really wouldn’t risk it!!

I tend to use a bag of the frozen microwave white rice from Iceland, Asda Naan breads and cook our own chips.Β  This helps to keep the costs down.Β  We had a favourite Indian but in April the price for our usual meals went up by almost Β£6, that’s almost a 30% increase!.

For Chinese we have 2 decent ones, one is just up the road and on the way home on the one night a week I’m out so I order and collect on the way home, the other is a bit of a drive but a couple of his favourite meals are slightly different there so we do alternate weeks.

We have 2 chip shops, the one that’s been here for years is very hit and miss and small portions and reduced opening hours.Β  The new I-Fry is big and flash but sometimes the quality is quite poor, they shut at 10pm and we’ve found anything ordered after about 9:15 isn’t great, lots of cooking oil in the bottom of the containers that’s leaked out of the fish, sausage or burger etc..

The reason for the halt on the automatics may have something to with the recent postings here of members having various engine failures,

Assuming the doc gives me the all clear to drive this morning I have a day out with a 114 mile round trip planned for Wednesday that I’d like to do.Β  So that should give me a better feel for it πŸ™‚

The ACC is on an old fashioned stalk, it’s a common complaint apparently, using VW’s last years tech.

I understand the benefits of ACC I use it every tip to the USA and find it great, the Seat however seems to be braking a lot more harshly than other systems I’ve used that just slow down “nicely”.

No doubt I’ll get used to it eventually, thanks for the input πŸ™‚

im 53 whats Betamax/VHS ? i’m too young to know lol

They were the very poor alternatives to the Philips/Grundig V2000 system, better picture quality and longer running/recording times with dual sided tapes you could turn over just like audio cassettes. πŸ™‚

Well that’s some good news πŸ™‚

In other news I got a text from my GP at 7am, ring her today!.Β  Turns out when I had an ultrasound of my “mans bits” done on Friday they also did my kidneys for related issues.Β  Turns out my right one has a medium cyst (nothing to worry about) the left has a 2cm “not sure what it is, but it isn’t a cyst” so now waiting for a CT scan appointment.Β  It just keeps getting better! πŸ™‚

Probably nothing exciting but no matter what it is it’s just something to deal with, it is what it is.Β  I’m getting very pragmatic in my old age! πŸ™‚

Not been on much for the last few days, struggling with the PTSD and worrying if the damage to my good shoulder is going to force me to give up my hobby.Β Β  I keep telling myself to stop complaining, I walked away from a very nasty crash, all things considered it could have been a lot worse πŸ™‚

Well I was planning to have a rest today after all the excitement yesterday but it’s been non-stop phone calls and emails.Β Β  So much for relaxing πŸ™‚

Went for a drive up to the nearest chip shop to get my son’s supper, had to pull over as a police car with blues and twos on came hurtling down our main street (30 limit) doing about 60+mph in the middle of the road!Β  Soon as I saw him coming I thought Oh God, not again!!! πŸ™‚

I’m off to bed for a bit, totally bushed!.Β  Had my online doctors interview this morning, he’s not happy with the physio just giving me a leaflet as I don’t have a good arm to help with the bad one!.Β  He’s booking 10 proper hands-on sessions via the insurance.Β  He agrees I have PTSD and it should clear in about a year which is a lot longer than my own GP said.Β  I can’t remember if he said I may have to go to some sort of counseling, no doubt someone will write me a letter to tell me!.

I have to use a “To Do” list taped on my wall otherwise I just forget so much, it just isn’t like me at all.

My daughter came round today which was a nice surprise, sort of!.Β  Not only had I forgot she was coming I couldn’t even remember the conversation we had yesterday arranging it!.

She’s set a load of calendar alarms on my mobile for stuff I need to do over the next week so that should help πŸ™‚

I’d certainly consider an EV of some sort but there are things that I’d need to be able to do that.

    1. Have a charging point at home, at present with only on street parking the only way would be to convert our small front garden into a hard standing, not sure if my housing association would let me!

    2. There are no charge points anywhere I usually drive so I would have to rely on home charging with a minimum range of say 200 miles to ensure not running out of charge on my main long journey (about 5-9 times a year) which is about 120 miles round trip.Β  This is through rural Northumberland, not a hospitable place in the Winter months and no charging points on the route or at the destination (MOD camp in the middle of nowhere!).

    3. My other long distance trip would be Mancheter, about 145 miles each way but only once or twice a year.Β  Motorway services or the hotel overnight would be the obvious answer.

    4. Size, it would have to be a mid-size SUV like a Tiguan, CR-V, Ateca etc. as I’m 6’5″ and a bit with poor mobility and very poor bendability!.

I had a 2013 Honda Jazz after I lost my mobility award through my DLA to PIP transfer.Β  Both myself and my Autistic son are well over 6′ but managed fine with it for a year, the car’s a bit of a Tardis πŸ™‚

Coming back onto Motability again I went to see one and the HR-V and was surprised that I just couldn’t physically get into it.Β  Couldn’t bend down far enough to get my head in the door opening on either.Β  I think with the HR-V it’s the slope of the windscreen, it’s 5cm higher than the Jazz but I still couldn’t get into it.Β  The CR-V would have been nice (had one for 5yrs) but the starting AP is Β£2,799!.

Hi, I had to re-apply after my original order was cancelled.Β  My dealer put the order through to Motability on a Thursday and even though it said checks can take longer at the moment the application was approved the following Monday.Β  I’m collecting the car this Tuesday afternoon.Β  Still not received the Motability documents that were posted out last Monday, I rang them and they text me the PIN number (required to collect the car)Β  πŸ™‚

You can check your application status on their website,Β  https://www.motability.co.uk/contact/application-checker/

It usually means one of two things,

    1. They really have no idea, which is possible but as seen above other dealers are ordering now with a 5 week lead time.Β  So they are getting the info from Citroen ok.

    2. They are speaking out of their aerosols, I may have “accidentally” spelt that wrong πŸ™‚

As said above, ring Motability on Monday morning and ask them to sort it out with the dealer.

I’m sure the Motability payments weren’t on my credit report when I had my previous car from them back in 2015.Β  The VW/Skoda finance ones certainly are, hence the problem!.

It’s just so annoying, my credit score went down the toilet after my ex walked out on us.Β  Only after getting a divorce did it start to recover.

Mine has been spot on so far πŸ™‚

Having said that it’s the same dealership that sold me the Gen 2 Qashqai in 2014 and that was a terrible car!.Β  It had different seats to the one I’d had for the test drive (and was told they’d be the same), fuel economy was terrible (1.5 Renault diesel engine), the stop/start kept cutting in when pulling out of junctions and a few other really annoying habits!, it went back after a few months.Β  I swapped to a Kuga, not as fancy or as many electronic gizzmo’s but it did exactly what it said on the tin πŸ™‚

@Pillboy – Just checking the Ateca brochure, the Xclellence Lux (same as I’ve ordered) it says it should have leather sports seats.Β  The online configuration also says black leather sports seats but under the list of equipment it also says comfort seats so that’s not confusing at all!.Β  The one I had a sit in def. didn’t have electric seats, I had to push the levers to get the seat fully back and down.

Have a look at the MG HS, the Exclusive version has electric drivers (6 way) and passenger (4 way) adjustable leather seats.Β  The AP for the Auto is only Β£999.Β  πŸ™‚
